Playstation 3 Repair

Before you buy your playstation 3, it must be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty; and therefore, if something goes amiss with it and it calls for repairs while still under the warranty, do not try to repair it yourself but call Sony for directives. Usually, there will be a Sony toll free number that is in the manuals and even if they will ask you to cater for the cost of the repair, at least they will do it themselves. Likewise, you should also visit your electronics store and see whether there is something that they can do about it. Most likely, you will find an electronics repair person who will be familiar with the Playstation 3 and you will find help. If you know nothing about electronics and you tamper with it, you will only make things worse and you will no longer be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

But even if it is not advisable to do the repairs yourself, at least you should be able to do the troubleshooting. There are manuals that should have come with your playstation and if you do not have them, you can download from the company website where they are posted usually in PDF format. The trouble shooting manual will help you know when your playstation needs repairs; and therefore, you can seek help before the problem becomes worse. A problem identified is a problem half solved and hence identification of trouble with your device is very important. If you are using the playstation 3 for the first time, you might not be able to pinpoint trouble when it occurs. You need to read the manuals carefully.

Among the components of the playstation 3 the one area where you might expect trouble to shoot from is the power supply. However, you should not fret about this one as they go for just about $50 online and actually replacing it yourself is very easy. But before you even think of buying a new power supply, think about the fuse and check it out first. Make no mistake about this. The fuse will usually die with a loud pop sound and so all you have to do is go to the local electronics store and ask them to replace the fuse for you. Of they do not have the right one, just buy one online. If the power supply is gone, don’t throw it away, save it and sell it to people who want spare parts from it. Save your receipt and get an extended warranty.
