PlayStation Three the home gaming console which is officially abbreviated to PS3 is the third sequel of PlayStation series. The super powerful console is released by Sony Computer Entertainment. PlayStation three is a seventh generation gaming console and has to compete with Microsoft Corporation’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. The other two are very hard competitors and Sony Corporation is doing their best in order to survive the competition and it is nor much to say that they are now ruling the gaming business.

Its capability of connecting to internet system is just amazing and no other consoles are as efficient as PS3. Then PS3 supports new and improved disks like Blue Ray disks which are know as High Definition Discs. Sony’s main storage media is blue ray disc an PS3 was the first console that was compatible with Blue Ray 2.0 technology. It was the first player on the market and with this technology now gamers can play more games that before and store more data.
PS3 was released on Japan first and the releasing date was November 11. On 17 November it was released in North America and South America. It was released in Europe on March 2007 and Oceania. When the gizmo was released then there were two types of PlayStation available in the market. The simple model that has 20 GB storage device is compatible with Wi-Fi technology. Then there was the premium model with 60 GB storage device with some additional features. Now there are various models available that have different storage amount and it starts from 20 GB and finishes at 160 GB. The Sony Corporation is thinking and working to improve PS3 and they might release newer models.
The models with different storage limit have some differences and they are very vital and important to know when someone is thinking of buying a PlayStation three. The one with the 20 GB storage have 4 USB slots and is only available in black color. The 60 GB edition of PS3 has some extra features like it is 802.11b/g WiFi. Then it is also available only in black color and has third party controlling system. Only the 160 GB edition is available in different colors.
