• A replacement screen. You can find many retailers selling replacement screens on the internet, mostly under $40. If you want cheaper, try EBay. Also keep in mind that you do not need a touch sensitive overlay for the top screen.
• A Philips head screwdriver.
• Pliers
• Soldering iron
• A needle for removing rubber screw covers
• A board on which you can work.

Once you have assembled the above objects in one place, you can start replacing the top screen on the Nintendo DS Lite. Try the following steps one by one and your job should be done soon.

1. Remove the battery. Then remove the four screw covers on the front face of the top section and unscrew. Keep the screws carefully because they are really small and can get lost easily. Then set aside the top and remove the green boards underneath. This is really for being able to complete the next step.

2. Detach from the board. You need to detach the screen completely from the board. For this you have to sever the three ribbons, which connect the board and the screen. Two of them are pretty large and easy to remove, but the third is rather delicate and you need to handle it carefully.

3. Attach the new screen and seal it off. Connect the ribbons to your new screen and put the screws back in place.
