The Good News And The Bad News In Searching For A Pink Nintendo DS
Looking for a pink Nintendo DS unit? Well, there are some good news and some bad news awaiting your search.
The good news is that, indeed, there are pink Nintendo DS units available for your enjoyment. Though one of the latter colors to be introduced to the American market, pink Nintendo DS units quickly emerged as some of the top selling variations of the handheld console.
There is also a pink Nintendo DS Lite. The tone of the color isn’t the usual kind of pink, however. Rather, it comes off as metallic pink, which is still elegant and unique – characteristics of the color which has endeared it to a lot of people.
It should come as no surprise that pink Nintendo DS units and pink Nintendo DS Lite handhelds are the bestsellers for their mother company. Pink variations of most gadgets are often the hottest sellers of their respective product lines, after all.
You’d think that manufacturers would take a cue and release pink varieties as some of the earliest incarnations of their products.
Then again, the bad news.
If given a choice between the original Nintendo DS or even the newer DS Lite, and the newest incarnation of the portable gaming system, the Nintendo DSi, what would you choose? Naturally, you’d go for the Nintendo DSi, what with the exciting new features it brings to the table. With dual cameras, a sleeker and sexier design, faster processing power, external memory storage, and a brighter screen, the Nintendo DSi even warrants a purchase from existing DS and DS Lite owners. Settling for an older model of Nintendo’s current generation of handhelds would be a bad investment.
Hence, you shouldn’t be looking for a pink Nintendo DS or a pink Nintendo DS Lite.
You should be looking for a pink Nintendo DSi.
The problem is, the pink Nintendo DSi has yet to be released in America or in Europe.
This doesn’t mean that there is no such thing as a pink Nintendo DSi. Such variation has been released in Japan barely a month since the launch of the newest model of the handheld console. However, no such variation has been made available outside of Nintendo country. And currently, there are no announced plans of releasing pink Nintendo DSi units outside of Japan.
Does this mean that you wouldn’t be able to own a pink Nintendo DSi?
Of course not! Granted that you wouldn’t be able to buy one from American retail shops, you can always resort to import shops – particularly online import stores – for a unit. Yes, you may end up paying more for such a handheld console, but the satisfaction of owning the gaming system you want in the color you like should be enough to justify the higher price.
Bear in mind, however, the region locking is applied for most games and your imported pink Nintendo DSi may not be able to play the software programs released stateside.
