The Nintendo Wii Game System

In keeping with Nintendo’s USP of providing good, clean fun for people of all ages, the Nintendo Wii game system was launched in late 2006. It brought about a refreshing change in the game console market, which had little variety to offer till that point of time. And that it had really appealed to all game lovers was evident from the fact that just over a year after it was released it had sold over 20 million units in that short period of time! For those of you, who still don’t know much about this revolutionary console, let me provide the introductions.

The Wii is currently the smallest and lightest game console that is commercially available. Weighing at just over two and a half pounds it almost reminds you of a portable console when you pick it up!

The Wii game system is powered by 512 MB of in-built memory and has a slot for inserting an external memory card.

It also comes with two USB ports for added connectivity with other devices. So you can save game files and create backups with ease if you want.

The console is powered by the latest hardware. When you have got a processing chip named ‘Broadway’ and a graphics rendering chip named ‘Hollywood’ working together to give you the best gaming visuals, sound and gameplay, rest assured, the show will always go on!

New optical media discs have been launched as Nintendo Wii software. Along with these new discs you can also use the old Nintendo Gamecube software that you might be having at home.

Still wondering what’s so special about the Wii game system? Well, it’s the gameplay. Wii games will make you get up from your couch and ‘move, shake and rock’ your body. And that’s not an exaggeration! Thanks to the wireless Wii remote that is equipped with hardware that can track movement in real time and replicate it on your TV screen via the console. And that too, with exact power and direction along with providing ‘force feedback’.

So when you are playing your favorite sports game you no longer have to just sit in one place and keep pressing buttons on your gamepad. To take a golf swing, you now have to stand up and swing your Wii remote the way you would swing your club! And the same applies to all games on the Wii. So while the remote can be a steering wheel one moment, the next it might be a baseball bat, depending on what games you are playing.

You can also take the Wii online via WiiConnect software. It allows you to download your favorite games as well as play online with other Wii owners.

All said and done, maybe you should give the Nintendo Wii game system a try, because it will be a novel experience for sure.
